Applecross

Applecross is situated directly south of the Torridon region, and extends west to the coast. Due to this proximity to the coast the weather in this area can be particularly fickle [ed - uncertain] - but this only adds to the interest!
Applecross is one of the most dramatic mountain areas I have ever had the pleasure to pass through, if not actually climb in. With its tremendously glaciated valleys and ferociously steep ridges (many unwalkable) this region surely presents the climber, hillwalker and mountaineer with a challenge worth meeting in summer, and even more so in winter. Spectacular scenery, tremendous grade VI ice climbs and the whole places unique atmosphere make this a place not to be missed in winter.
Don't miss it in summer either!
The guidebook for this area is the SMC Northern Highlands Volume 1.
